The Northern Lights is sometimes so strong that you can even see it in the downtown of Tromsø. 1. Northern Lights

Northern lights also known as Aurora Borealis is a natural light display in the sky, seen in high altitude regions. 3. Visit the Arctic Cathedral

Tromsdalen Church, also known as Ishavskatedralen (The Arctic Cathedral) was built in 1965. It is the image of the Tromsø. The cathedral is a landmark visible from the Tromsø Sound, the Tromsø Bridge and when landing in Tromsø by aircraft. This is a must-visit place in Tromsø.

4. Polaria Arctic Experience Center And Aquarium

Polaria is an Arctic experience centre and Aquarium which provides you experience about various Arctic animals and birds. You can watch films at Polaria about the Arctic – “Northern Lights in Arctic Norway” and “Svalbard – Arctic Wilderness”. You can also witness Arctic fish of all kinds like seals, king crabs, cod, and wolffish.

There are two seal feeding and training sessions per day:

– Summer: 12:30 (12:30 am) and 15:00 (3 pm)

– Winter: 12:30 (12:30 am) and 15:30 (3:30 pm)

Tip – Make sure to visit Polaria during this time. It is a fun session.

5. Visit the Tromsø Cathedral and stroll the downtown

Tromsø Cathedral is located on the main walking street of the Tromsø. It is notable as it is the only Norwegian cathedral made of wood.  A great way of seeing and experience Tromso Cathedral is by attending the daily concert “Sounds Of The North” by Arctic Vibe.

6. Reindeer Feeding

Reindeers in Norway are mostly tame and not wild. You can easily go near them and feed them.  Reindeer Feeding is one of the best experience and excursion one can have in Tromsø in winters.

How to reach Tromsø?

Tromsø is well connected to major cities and one can easily reach Tromsø via a flight.

How to reach the city centre from the airport?

The airport is quite close to the city. There is an airport express bus which could take you to the city centre. The trip takes about 15 minutes and tickets can be purchased from a machine in the arrivals hall or onboard. Another option is the local buses which have frequent departures to the city centres. Tickets can also be purchased from app.

How to explore Tromsø?
